Department of Finance
The Finance Department is responsible for financial operations of the Ministry in order to ensure accountability and transparency, providing effective disbursement of funds with robust processes and procedures to ensure timely services to facilitate smooth operation of the Ministry.
Finance Department also monitors the implementation of the budget to facilitate smooth service delivery and provide timely guidance and prepare Financial Reports to assist management to ensure transparency and compliance with laid down procedures.
OUR KEY PRINCIPLES
In order to carry out its mandate the Finance Department will endeavor to adhere to the under listed fundamental principles;
TRANSPARENCY – Ensuring that all Financial Transactions are as transparent as possible, visibility of honest transactions, and assuring equity of disbursement of funds and all processes preclude all suspicions of all forms of corruption and assuring the integrity of the payments processes.
ACCOUNTABILITY – Financial Management essentially means to be responsible for our actions and decisions, and having the obligation to report and/or answer to a designated oversight to the Management on the consequences of those actions and decisions. As public servants, accountants are accountable for legal action and so integrity must be exercised at all cost.
EFFICIENCY – Meeting deadlines/targets and flexibility in achieving the results with assiduousness, competency, and application of right management processes that ensure satisfaction of users at large.
ECONOMY – Assurance of increased functionality partnered with procurement for reduced products cost.
VALUE FOR MONEY – The feel of the real benefit for money spent by government (Users). The worthiness of spend for procured quality goods, works and services through dialogue with concerned units of Internal Audit and Procurement.
